What is a balance bike?A balance bike is a little bike with two wheels and no pedals. It is designed to help children learn to balance and steer on two wheels, before they transition to a traditional pedal bike with gears and brakes. It’s a great way to have fun, encourage adventure, build confidence, and skip the stabilisers!
-
Why should I choose a balance bike over training wheels?Balance bikes teach your children how to balance and steer without relying on extra wheels. This develops your child’s balance, coordination and confidence, which better prepares them for a traditional pedal bike than training wheels. Learn more about the benefits of balance bikes and the differences between balance bikes and training wheels on our blog page.
-
What age are balance bikes suitable for?Our balance bikes are designed for children aged 3 - 5 years old, though this depends on your child. The maximum user weight for the mwv balance bike is 30kg. Take a look at our handy size guide over on the bike page.

How do I measure my child's inseam? To measure your child’s inseam: Have your child stand up tall against a wall. Place a book between their legs, so that the spine touches the crotch like a bike seat would. Use a tape measure to measure the length between the floor and the spine of the book - that’s your inseam! For the right fit, ensure that the child’s inside leg is between 39cm and 50cm.
-
How do I assemble my mwv bike? For full assembly instructions, please see our instructions manual. We include all the tools you need to assemble your mwv bike in the box.
-
How high should the seat be on a balance bike? The seat on your balance bike should be set so that your children’s feet are flat on the ground when they are sat on the saddle.
